This time round the amiable Professor Sherman Klump decides to rid himself of his alter ego Buddy Love once and for all by cutting loose all his DNA (we're talking Hollywood science here of course). Buddy then crops up as his own man and decides he'll make things a lot better if he sells off Sherman's revolutionary youth serum as his own. However the formula is hidden in the Klump family household and - quite frankly the skinny guy doesn't stand a chance. The comedy is fairly undemanding stuff. Bodily functions get plenty of screentime as do more of those fun-with-science things which Hollywood movies enjoy (cue giant hamsters on the rampage.) However the part of Nutty Professor II which really impresses is the make up and camera tricks which transform Murphy into an entire family - each with their own personality. Rick Baker's make-up is extraordinary and Murphy himself is superb as all eight of the (rather broad - in every sense) characters.
