Here he plays the nice (?) son of the chap downstairs one of his three offspring who are causing him headaches given that he wants to retire but none are suitable to take over from him. Thus when the two really evil sons (played by Rhys Ifans and Tiny Lister) escape to New York and stop the flow of souls flowing into Hell Satan begins to decompose (are you following all of this?) and Nicky must stop them before it's too late. All of which special-effects laden hoopla is really just a set up to sling Nicky into contemporary New York with no idea whatsoever as to what is going on. Fish out of water comedy with a satanic twist if you like. Nicky himself is one of Sandler's grotesques. His face contorted as though he has been hit with an iron his voice strangled and lisping. None of it is particularly subtle of course but it manages to be good hellish fun none the less. ...
