As usual with this sort of film the large ensemble cast is whittled down one by one and half the fun is trying to guess who will be next to munched. Orchestrated by Renny Harlin whose previous films have been either reasonably successful (The Long Kiss Goodbye) or absolutely awful (Cut-throat Island). Deep Blue Sea is very silly (mutant sharks chase people down corridors?! Please!) but great fun as the action set-pieces become increasingly OTT and the characters find the time to spout very amusing dialogue at each other. The stars including Samuel L. Jackson Stellan Skarsgard LL Cool J and Saffron Burrows all seem to be enjoying themselves and their levity is contagious. ...
